Penn State Schuylkill women's volleyball opened its 2025 season with a competitive trimatch at King's College, falling to the Monarchs in straight sets before bouncing back with an impressive four-set victory over Keystone College. With a roster featuring a large group of talented newcomers, the Lions showed flashes of their potential, energy, and chemistry as they begin building toward a strong season.
Match 1: King's College 3, Penn State Schuylkill 0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-10)
Schuylkill battled closely in the opening set before King's pulled away, and the Monarchs' offensive efficiency proved too much down the stretch.

Lainey Dusel paced the Lions with 9 kills and added a service ace and 7 digs.

Kenzie Staller was highly efficient, posting 6 kills on 11 attempts (.455) while contributing 7 points overall.

Amanda Burns chipped in with 4 kills, and setter Ryliegh Sinko tallied 22 assists, 9 digs, and 2 aces to keep Schuylkill in rhythm.

Defensively, Lyla Kershner anchored the back row with 13 digs.
Despite the loss, the young Schuylkill squad showed promise in long rallies and flashes of aggressive net play.
Match 2: Penn State Schuylkill 3, Keystone College 1 (25-17, 25-11, 21-25, 25-20)
The Lions quickly regrouped and captured their first win of the year, defeating Keystone with a balanced offensive attack and aggressive serving.

Amanda Burns led the charge with a dominant 14 kills on .414 hitting, plus a block and 14.5 points.

Dusel followed with 10 kills, 10 digs, and 4 aces, recording her first double-double of the season.

Addie Stagon added 7 kills, while freshman Amira Douglas provided a spark with 6 kills.

Staller again played a key role, contributing 4 kills and a team-high 6 aces.

At setter, Sinko directed the offense brilliantly with 34 assists and 3 aces, while Kershner controlled the back line with 15 digs.
As a team, Schuylkill hit .270 in the win, racking up 47 kills and 15 service aces while limiting Keystone to a .198 hitting percentage.
Building Momentum
Head Coach Maddy Felty and staff saw encouraging signs in their team's first action of the season. With many freshmen stepping into key roles, the Lions showed flashes of strong chemistry, resilience, and high energy from both players and coaches.
Penn State Schuylkill (1-1) will look to carry its momentum into the next stretch of non-conference play as its young roster continues to develop and gain experience.
