Golf Fires Season-Low 314 at Championships
Penn State Schuylkill men’s golf closed out the fall campaign with their strongest round yet — a season- and team-low 314 — to cap off an impressive showing at the USCAA/PSUAC Championships.
It was an impressive finish for the Lions as they wrapped up the two-day USCAA/PSUAC Championships in dominant fashion. Penn State Schuylkill posted its lowest team score of the season with a 314, highlighted by all golfers finishing under 90.
Cole Yelinek led the way with a stellar 75, followed closely by Rylen Matlock (77) and Hayden Lee (79), both continuing their strong fall performances. Branson Devitt (83) and Bryce Peiffer-Lesher (88), and Hogan Troutman (89) added depth to a balanced and confident lineup.
Head Coach JD Powis praised his team's effort, noting how proud he was of their steady growth throughout the season and the resilience they showed under championship pressure. He emphasized how rewarding it was to see Schuylkill back in contention with the top programs across the PSUAC, marking a significant step forward for the program's competitiveness.
The Lions' consistency and composure under championship pressure marked a major step forward for the program, closing the fall season on a high note and setting the tone for an exciting spring ahead.

Branson Devitt and Bryce Pieffer-Lesher were named Academic All-Americans.
Branson Devitt was awarded the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.
Freshman Cole Yelinek shot 78-75 at the Penn State Blue Course in the USCAA Golf Championships from October 13-14. Cole finished with a 2 day total of 153. His score earned him a Second Team All American Award with the USCAA.
Sophomore Rylen Matlock receives honorable mention for his 2 day total of 79-77 (156). Exceptional play from both student athletes!
