Men’s Basketball Stays Hot with Third-Straight PSUAC Win

The Penn State Schuylkill men's basketball team extended its PSUAC win streak to three games with a commanding 71-61 victory over Penn State York on Tuesday night at the Ruhl Center. The Lions showcased a balanced attack, led by standout performances from Makhi Jones and Antwuan Byrd.

Jones was the offensive catalyst, pouring in a game-high 24 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, and adding three rebounds and two assists. Byrd anchored the playmaking effort with 10 points and an impressive nine assists, facilitating the team's fluid offense.

The Lions (3-1 PSUAC) opened the game with tenacious defense and efficient shooting, jumping to an early lead they would not relinquish. The first half ended with Schuylkill holding a 30-26 edge, thanks to key baskets by Dashawn Dixon and Issac Lane, who combined for 21 points and 10 rebounds.

In the second half, Amir Gray came off the bench to provide an energetic spark, scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and grabbing four rebounds. Schuylkill's defense stifled York's offense, forcing 17 turnovers and holding their opponents to just 39.1% shooting from the field.

Penn State York's Quentin Wells kept his team in the game, tallying 18 points and six rebounds, but his effort wasn't enough to overcome Schuylkill's balanced attack.

The Lions return to action this Friday at home against PSU Fayette in another PSUAC showdown. Tip-off is set for 8:00 PM.
