Late Scores Show Lions’ Fight in Road Matchup at Neumann
Penn State Schuylkill rallied for two second-half touchdowns and kept battling to the finish in a 40-12 Atlantic East road matchup against Neumann on Saturday evening.
Penn State Schuylkill showed its resilience throughout the contest, continuing to battle and work together from start to finish despite an early Neumann lead in Atlantic East play.
After Neumann took a 27-0 advantage into halftime and added another score early in the third quarter, the Lions answered with a strong response in the second half. Schuylkill broke through with a pair of touchdowns over the final two quarters, showing continued toughness and composure while playing from behind.
Abree Brown led the Lions through the air, going 21-for-34 for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Kay Lee Morgan and Mikayla Johnson each caught a touchdown pass, while Miranda Morstatt paced the receiving corps with eight receptions for 52 yards. Makayla Hill added four catches for 36 yards, and Kenzie Staller chipped in three receptions for 23 yards.
Defensively, Schuylkill continued to compete and came up with key plays in the second half. Kenzie Staller recorded an interception, while Makayla Hill led the team with six tackles. Mikayla Johnson, Miranda Morstatt, and Sierra Wishnefsky each added three tackles in the effort.
