Schuylkill’s Season Ends in PSUAC Quarterfinals
Penn State Schuylkill closed the match with 45 team digs and six blocks, showcasing their defensive toughness in the PSUAC Quarterfinals.
YORK, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill volleyball wrapped up its 2025 campaign Thursday night in the PSUAC Quarterfinals, falling to a powerful Penn State York squad, 3–0 (12–25, 12–25, 17–25), inside the Ruhl Center.
York, the top seed in the conference at 19–2 overall, used a strong offensive presence to control the tempo, but Schuylkill battled throughout behind a balanced effort from its young roster.
Offensively, senior Lainey Dusel led the Lions with six kills, one ace, and seven total points, while Amanda Burns added two kills, four assists, and one service ace. Freshman setter Ryliegh Sinko turned in another solid all-around performance, tallying 16 assists, eight digs, and two kills, finishing with a team-best .250 hitting percentage. Kenzie Staller chipped in three kills and a service ace, while Olivia Veloz contributed two kills and three block assists at the net.
Defensively, Hannah Leininger and Sinko led the back row with 12 and 8 digs, respectively, while Dusel and Wishnefsky added nine and six. At the net, Schuylkill collected six block assists as a team, with Addie Stagon and Veloz combining for five.
The Lions finish the season 9–13 overall and 4–6 in PSUAC play, earning a postseason win and five All-Conference honorees — Lainey Dusel (Second Team), Amanda Burns (Second Team), Lyla Kershner (Honorable Mention), Ryliegh Sinko (Honorable Mention), and Sierra Wishnefsky (Sportsmanship Team).
Head Coach Madison Felty expressed pride in the team's progress and resilience throughout the year:
"This group set a new standard for what Schuylkill volleyball can be. They competed, supported each other, and grew every week. We're proud of what they accomplished and excited for what's ahead."
With a strong core returning and a standout freshman class gaining valuable experience, Schuylkill looks poised to build on its success heading into the 2026 season.
