Lions Outlast Keystone in Five-Set Thriller
PSU Schuylkill racked up 53 kills in a hard-fought 3–2 win to even their record at 3–3.
Penn State Schuylkill volleyball battled through momentum swings and 11 total lead changes to edge Keystone 3–2 (21–25, 25–19, 26–24, 16–25, 15–10) on Monday night in La Plume, PA.
Lainey Dusel powered the attack with a match-high 15 kills, while Amanda Burns added 12 kills and 12 digs for a strong two-way performance. Setter Ryliegh Sinko directed the offense with 37 assists, chipping in 16 digs and three service aces. Addie Stagon was efficient with seven kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while Kenzie Staller delivered six kills and five service aces. Amira Douglas provided an offensive spark off the bench with five kills on a .385 clip.
Defensively, libero Lyla Kershner anchored the back row with 22 digs, and the Lions out-dug Keystone 80–77 in a tightly contested match. Schuylkill held Keystone to just a .134 hitting percentage, including a decisive .043 mark in the final set.
With the win, the Lions improve to 3–3 overall and will turn their attention to PSUAC conference play. Penn State Schuylkill travels to Penn State York on Wednesday for its PSUAC opener.
