Penn State Schuylkill picked up a pair of nonconference wins over King's College on Tuesday at Blue Mountain High School, taking Game 1, 9-8, before finishing the sweep with a 5-3 victory in Game 2. The Lions showed plenty of resilience at the plate, answering multiple King's rallies in the opener before leaning on power and a complete-game effort in the nightcap.
Game 1 – Penn State Schuylkill 9, King's 8
Schuylkill used a five-run second inning to take control early, then answered every King's push just enough to hang on for a one-run win in the opener. The Lions added a key insurance burst in the sixth, highlighted by Nina Wilk's two-run home run, which proved to be the difference.
After King's scored three in the third and continued to chip away, Schuylkill stayed composed and finished off the victory behind a strong relief effort from Aryanna Bodge, who earned the win in the circle.
Key Highlights – Schuylkill
Jade Weiss: 1-for-2, 3 runs, RBI, double, 2 walks
Aryanna Bodge: 2-for-4, 2 RBI and earned the win in relief
Nina Wilk: 2-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 runs, home run
Mackenzie Carl: 2-for-4, run scored
Emily Brent: 1-for-1, RBI, walk, two sacrifice bunts
Ryliegh Sinko: RBI, run scored, 2 walks
Chloe Heckman: 1-for-4, run scored
Bodge came on in relief and picked up the win, while Wilk's sixth-inning homer gave Schuylkill the cushion it needed late.
Game 2 – Penn State Schuylkill 5, King's 3
The Lions struck quickly again in Game 2, getting on the board in the first with a two-run homer from Aryanna Bodge before adding three more runs in the second. That early offense was enough for Bodge, who turned in a complete-game win and kept King's off the board until the fifth inning.
Schuylkill managed just five hits in the game, but made them count as two left the yard.
Key Highlights – Schuylkill
Aryanna Bodge: 2-for-3, 2 RBI, home run; complete-game win with 6 strikeouts
