Penn State Schuylkill wrapped up its spring break slate in Myrtle Beach on March 13 with two contrasting games, falling 2-0 to Rochester Christian before bouncing back with a commanding 7-1 win over Cedar Crest. The Lions finished the week 4-4, highlighted by solid pitching and timely hitting throughout the trip.
In the opener against Rochester Christian, the Lions were limited offensively despite a strong outing in the circle from Chloe Heckman. Heckman worked all six innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) while scattering nine hits and five walks. Rochester Christian pushed across an unearned run in the second inning and added an RBI single in the third to account for the game's only scoring.
Schuylkill managed just two hits, one each from Emily Brent and Lillian Deibler, while Jade Weiss added a stolen base. Defensively, the Lions turned a double play as Weiss and Deibler helped keep the game within reach, but Rochester Christian pitcher Amber Lamphier struck out nine batters to preserve the shutout.
The Lions responded in the second game with their most complete performance of the day, rolling to a 7-1 victory over Cedar Crest behind a balanced offensive attack and dominant pitching from Aryanna Bodge.
Schuylkill struck early in the second inning when Jade Weiss delivered a two-run single, scoring Mackenzie Carl and Chloe Heckman. The Lions added three more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Bodge's two-run home run to right field, extending the lead to 5-0.
Weiss continued to spark the offense, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases, and a run scored, while Emily Brent went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Bodge added two hits, two RBI, and a home run to go with her performance in the circle. Nina Wilk and Chloe Heckman each collected two hits as Schuylkill totaled 12 hits in the win.
