Penn State Schuylkill Softball Falls in Doubleheader at Penn College; Looks Ahead to Notre Dame (MD) Matchup

The Nittany Lions were unable to generate enough offense, falling in both games to Penn College on the road.

Game 1 Recap:

Penn College controlled the opener from start to finish, shutting out Penn State Schuylkill 8-0 in five innings. The Wildcats took an early lead with two runs in the first, then added to their advantage with runs in the third, fourth, and a three-run fifth to secure the run-rule victory. Penn College's offense was led by Mackenzie Weaver, who contributed both at the plate and in the circle. The Nittany Lions managed just two hits in the contest, both from M. Carl, while starting pitcher M. Marks took the loss in her first decision of the season.

Game 2 Recap:

Penn College completed the sweep with a 9-1 victory in Game 2, using an early offensive surge to put the game out of reach. The Wildcats struck for two runs in the first and second innings before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth inning. Penn State Schuylkill plated its lone run in the fifth when M. Carl singled up the middle to drive in K. Wank. However, the Nittany Lions were held to just two hits for the second straight game. E. Crisswell took the loss in the circle, allowing eight earned runs over four innings of work.
