Penn State Schuylkill men's volleyball made program history on Friday night, earning the first win in program history with a commanding 3-0 sweep of the University of Valley Forge inside Schuylkill Haven. The Lions delivered a statement performance, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 28-26, showcasing the growth, resilience, and belief that has been building within the program all season.
From the opening serve, Schuylkill set the tone with aggressive play at the net and strong defensive coverage. The Lions controlled the first set behind efficient attacking and steady serve-receive, limiting Valley Forge's offensive rhythm and capitalizing on key scoring runs to pull away late.
The second set saw Valley Forge push back, but Schuylkill remained composed. Timely kills, disciplined blocking, and improved communication allowed the Lions to fend off rallies and maintain control, closing out the set with confidence and momentum firmly on their side.
The third set provided the dramatic finish befitting a historic night. Locked in a back-and-forth battle that featured multiple lead changes, Schuylkill rose to the moment with clutch plays in every phase. The Lions showed poise beyond their experience, winning extended rallies, defending relentlessly, and finishing the set 28-26 to seal the sweep and ignite celebration on the home court.
Offensively, Reno Plesnarski paced the Lions with 10 kills, while Bryce Hensley delivered an efficient performance with eight kills on a .368 hitting percentage. Jeremiah Miller and Austin Fries added key contributions at the net, and Kadre Williams anchored the offense with 32 assists, four service aces, and steady leadership throughout the match. The Lions' collective effort at the net and in the back row played a critical role in closing out the match.
