Chambers Wins High Jump at Bill Butler Invitational
Strong all-around team effort with multiple podium finishes.
Penn State Schuylkill Track & Field delivered a well-rounded performance at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester University, highlighted by a first-place finish, several scoring performances, and strong depth across both the men's and women's lineups.
On the men's side, Tyrone Chambers led the way with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.88m (6'2"). The distance group added key points in the 3000m steeplechase with Ashton Owens placing third and Bryce Hensley finishing fourth. Lee Newton paced the sprint group with an eighth-place finish in the 400 meters (51.51) and contributed to both relay teams, which each finished fourth.
The women's team saw strong performances in distance and field events. JiaYi Gong earned a second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, while Abigail Smithnosky placed third in both the 10,000 meters and steeplechase. Hannah Leininger added a second-place finish in the javelin (35.21m), and Evelyne Larose scored in both horizontal jumps.
