Lane’s 23 points not enough as Lions fall on the road at Mont Alto
Schuylkill’s defense forced 27 turnovers to stay within striking distance all afternoon.
Penn State Schuylkill men's basketball put up 45 second-half points and forced 27 turnovers, but a hot-shooting Penn State Mont Alto squad protected its home floor in an 83–75 decision on Saturday afternoon.
Isaac Lane led the way with a game-high 23 points, attacking the rim and going 8-for-9 at the free throw line while adding 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Amir Gray poured in 19 points with 3 assists, and Bryce Hensley provided a big lift off the bench with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Hadir Boswell added a solid all-around line with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block.
Schuylkill trailed 38–30 at halftime but kept the pressure on defensively, turning Mont Alto over repeatedly to stay within striking distance. Despite generating extra possessions and getting 15 steals as a team, the Lions couldn't fully overcome Mont Alto's efficiency and size inside. Mont Alto shot 51.8 percent from the field and held a 46–28 advantage on the glass, led by Veron Talla's 26 points and 14 rebounds and Richard Burke's 22 points.
