Penn State Schuylkill Battles Until the End in PSUAC Semifinal Loss to Mont Alto

From the opening tip, it was a battle. Schuylkill came out firing, taking an early lead behind a quick start from Makhi Jones and Issac Lane. With multiple lead changes in the first half, Mont Alto found their rhythm late in the second quarter, using a 12-3 run to take a 38-26 advantage into halftime.

Schuylkill refused to back down. A fiery response in the second half saw them cut the deficit to just four points with under 10 minutes to play, sparked by Jones' sharpshooting and Lane's relentless effort in the paint. The intensity was undeniable, as Schuylkill forced Mont Alto into key turnovers and capitalized on second-chance opportunities.

However, Mont Alto's efficiency from the field (49.1%) and strong rebounding edge (40-30) allowed them to hold off Schuylkill's late surge. Lane led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Jones poured in 18 points, including three triples. Amir Gray provided a crucial spark off the bench with eight points, and Antwuan Byrd dished out nine assists, orchestrating the offense with poise.

While the loss closes the PSUAC tournament run, Schuylkill's 19-9 season stands as a testament to their dedication and grit. A special salute to seniors Antwuan Byrd, Dashawn Dixon, Makhi Jones, and Andrew Sepp, who have played with heart, character, and pride throughout their time in the program.
