Schuylkill Baseball Wraps Up an Impressive Campaign in USCAA Championships
enn State Schuylkill's baseball team concluded a solid season with a 4-1 loss to Penn State Mont Alto in the USCAA Championships. Despite the setback, Schuylkill's performance throughout the season earned them a spot among the top six teams in the national tournament, highlighting a year of growth and competitive play.
Mont Alto broke the scoreless tie in the second inning with a solo home run by Garrett Worth to take a 1-0 lead. Schuylkill responded in the fourth inning when Owen Zimmerman delivered a clutch RBI double to left center, driving in Brandon Pupek to even the game at 1-1.
The momentum swung back to Mont Alto in the sixth inning as Cameron Bailey launched a two-run homer to left field, putting them back on top 3-1. Mont Alto would add an insurance run in the seventh, capitalizing on a fielding error to extend their lead to 4-1, which held as the final score.
Schuylkill's offense managed four hits, including doubles from Brandon Pupek and Owen Zimmerman, but could not generate enough scoring opportunities against Mont Alto's pitcher Carter Fogal, who threw a complete game, allowing just one run and striking out six.
