Travis Williams enters his seventh season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach of the Penn State Schuylkill’s Basketball program. In his third season at the helm Coach Williams led the team to increases in all conference players, wins, points, rebounds, and assists per game. Williams believes in a simple concept to guide and define his teams: work hard, play smart, play tough and play together. Above all, Coach Williams believes in the value of education and personal development. Basketball is an important component to a player’s college experience, but their education and individual development remain the top priority.
Williams is a 2006 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Human development and family studies, 2001 graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology with an associates degree in Business Administration, and 1997 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School. Before coming to Penn State University, Coach Williams was a Preschool teacher for four years with Child development Inc. Head start program.
Williams was a point guard and captain during his high school and college career and, post college, competed for twelve seasons at the semi-pro football level, winning multiple championships. Prior to entering the college ranks, Williams coached middle and high school basketball & football for four seasons.
Coach Williams is an admissions counselor, living with his wife, Gina and son Israel in Orwigsburg.
