Schuylkill falls to Brandywine 72-70
Schuylkill fell to 2-5 in PSUAC play after loss to Brandywine 70-72. Schuylkill was led by Paul Carey(Junior/Schuylkill Haven), with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Schuylkill also received strong performances off the bench from John Morrow (Senior/ Phila. E.&T.) and Colin Nurse Jr. (Junior/ Prospect Park) who chipped in with 10 and 14 respectively.
Schuylkill started the second half trailing by five and Brandywine would extend their lead to as much as 15 points midway through the half. Down by 9 with 5 minutes left on the clock, Schuylkill turned up the defensive pressure and forced turnovers that led to easy baskets cutting the Brandywine advantage down to 3 with 58 seconds remaining. Nurse Jr.'s 3-point attempt to tie got lodged between basket and the rim for a jump ball, Brandywine possesion. Brandywine would add 1 of 2 from the foul line, giving them a 72-68 lead. Dave Hardy hit a long 2 point field goal but Brandywine ran out the remaining time to seal the game.
